After you have graduated, you have the choice: for example between a position with a low-cost airline or with a traditional airline, nationally as well as internationally.

Docenti
Ulrich Desel studied economics and civil engineering with special lessons in traffic sciences and aviation at the Technical University of Aachen (Diploma degree in Civil Engineering in 1982, in Economics in 1985 and Dr.-Ing. in 1988). He started his career in 1982 as project manager with the Airport Research Centre in Aachen.
In 1988, Dr. Desel moved to the Deutsche Lufthansa AG as a route manager for a part of the intra-German routes of Lufthansa and since 1995 has worked for the Lufthansa ground-handling subsidiary GlobeGround as project manager where he was responsible for the acquisition and start-up of ground-handling entities, merger and acquisition and the evaluation of companies for the region of the U.K. and Scandinavia. Under the joint venture with Servisair he became Executive Vice President for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In this function he was a Board member of several ground-handling companies.
After visiting lectureship at the Technical University of Aachen and at the Donau University of Krems in Austria in 2003 he became professor for aviation management at the IUBH University of Applied Sciences and is teaching courses of Ground Handling, Network Planning, Introduction into Aviation Management, several Aviation Projects and Airlines Business Models. Beside his lectureship Dr. Desel is engaged in several consultancy projects in Germany and Europe mainly dealing with traffic forecast, market analyses, route planning, airline business planning and ground-handling in cooperation with different customers like Dornier Consulting, Flughafen Graz, Airport Partners, Nigerian Aircraft Handling Ltd. and others.
From his days with GlobeGround and consultancy services he has still good relationships to the Deutsche Lufthansa AG, several ground-handling companies like GlobeGround Berlin and Menzies Aviation Ltd., Aviation Business in the gulf area as well as airports in Europe.
